A Russian trench art money box.
This is a Russian trench art money box with the 5 point soviet star on the front in brass. The money box is made from a first world war mess tin which leads to when it was made, It is made from copper, it was tinned for use by the russian soldiers. The brass work on the box is most likley from shell casings and there is a cork for the base which is not a great fit. Looking at the base, there is an area of solder arround the exit hole, this may have been for a cover to keep the money in at some point. I have not polished it. Height - 82 mms, Width - 97 mms and Depth - 77 mms. (Sizes are not accurate but are very close) Postage to mainland UK is included in the sale price, please contact us for a postal cost to any other destination.
