A Cast Iron, Victorian Garden Cloche/Terrarium.
This is a early Victorian Garden Cloche/Terrarium. It was made between 1850, when the production of cast iron started and 1875 when the first trade mark was registered which was the Bass mark. This cloche has no trade mark and is made of cast iron, the glass has the green tint used to restict the amount of light that passes through. It is made from 6 pieces, 4 for the sides and 2 for the top. It is screwed together and the screws have been changed at some point in the past., the putty is missing in places which adds to it's look and patina. I have done a lot of searching online but can not find another one like this. Height - 36.5cms, Length - 32 cms, Width - 30.5 cms. (sizes are not accurate but are very close) This can not be posted as it will be broken, please get in contact to arrage a collection or a place to meet.
